Did you know that Plants can be grown in space?

Crew members aboard the International Space station have been growing Such plants and vegetables for years in their space garden.

A space station study is helping investigators develop procedures and methods that allow astronauts to grow and safely eat them.
Scientists of ISS(International Space Station) are on their work to grow flowers in space.Scientists have already grown vegetable red romaine lettuce successfully in space.taking this as a sign to next step, they have initiated a new growth system Veggie and planted Zinnia seeds (a type of flower).According to scientists, growing flower plants is a tough issue than growing vegetables(lettuce).as sunlight plays a very important role in growing plants, they have assinged lindgren for providing sufficient means of light for its growth.

Blue and red wavelengths are the minimum needed to get good plant growth,The green LED [lights] help to enhance the human visual perception of the plants, but they don't put out as much light as the reds and blues.
So as to provide light, blue, red and green LED's are used.
The green LED lights help make the plants look like edible food rather than weird purple plants. and these are adjusted in such a way that the plants get 10 to 14 hours of light a day.The Astronauts are thinking of growing Tomato also. so,already a group of 44 scientists are working on it.
