In my case, I want to write an article related to Domain authority by Moz. I will type Domain authority in the Search bar of Quora and then I will hit Enter. Here are the Questions I got as a result.

Here are the top 4 questions I got as a result. From the top 4 questions, I got 1 Idea. The 3rd Question is best to get solved as an article. We can write much on Page authority vs. domain Authority. I have added this to my list and I will write an article on this topic.

site:wikipedia.org – This part of footprint will only allow articles given on wikipedia.org. you can also use inurl:wikipedia.org.

If you know Google advanced search operators then it is very easy for you to make and understand any footprint.

Let us assume that I want to learn php and I want to download ebook for it from which I can learn PHP. I don’t know that from which site I can get it. Finally, I am gonna use one footprint which will give me the list of PHP ebooks stored anywhere on web. Here is it.

There are 2 parts of this footprint. Let me explain you how we made this footprint.

“Embed This Image On Your Site (copy code below):” – This part of footprint will find every page on web which contains same phrase even without changing order of words.
site:quicksprout.com – This part of footprint will limit the results to quicksprout.com only and will remove other results except quicksprout.com.

In front of you I made this footprint. It is very easy to make footprint for any purpose. Just you need is sharp eyes and Google’s advanced search operators. Yo are done!

Make your new article listed on the search engines as soon as published

Do you try very hard to optimize your articles for the search engine?

If yes, you might be struggling to rank on targeted keyword because, in most cases, one fails to rank for targeted keywords. You need to rank for the keyword from which you can get targeted traffic. It is not necessary that you need to rank on your targeted keyword only to get targeted traffic. You may get it from keywords having similar meanings too!

One more thing I want to inform you, don’t forget to optimize your article for your readers because they are the one for whom you are writing an article. Let me tell you that If you are targeting 1 high competition and high search volume keyword then don’t do it. Instead of that, target some Long tail keywords having medium search volume and less competition.

1. Target long tail keywords instead of short ones

An Advantage of doing thisTargeting long tail keywords is you will get more targeted traffic as well as you will get traffic from other LSI keywords if you are targeting them also. Finally, you have to target Some long tail keywords in an article instead of one short keyword.

As you can see, There is high Probability of conversation if you are targeting long tail keywords as well as there will be less competition to rank. In case of short keywords, You can see that there is the less probability of conversation with the highest competition.

So, targeting some long tail keywords was/is/will be the best choice to get targeted traffic to your website with less competition. If you will optimize your article for long tail keyword then it will be easy to rank but if you are optimizing your article for head term or short keyword then it will be very hard to rank on that keyword.

One thing might shock you is it is not necessary to have any keyword density if you are targeting long tail keywords. You don’t need to enter your keywords anywhere forcefully to make it SEO friendly. Instead, you are making it worse because you are entering keywords Forcefully to get some number of keyword density.

This is the mistake I did in my career. Yes, I believe that keyword density affects the ranking a lot. You can see the image given below that how much keyword density works best.

You can see that keyword density between 1.5%-2.75% is best to get highest rankings, but it also depends on the competition of keyword you are targeting. You will surely get higher rankings if you will insert your keywords naturally. It means that you have to enter that wherever it is necessary. You will not get good results if you will enter keywords forcefully in your article.

Keywords should be equally distributed in an article to make it User-friendly. It is not an important point but your user might get your content interesting by doing this.

Be sure you are using the targeted keyword once in Title and once in Meta description, yes you can add keywords in meta keywords also but if you want to rank on google because google doesn’t take meta keywords in consideration while ranking articles or pages in google.

Be Sure you are having your long tail keywords at these spots:

Heading
Content (Equally distributed)
Meta description
Meta keywords (For other search engines like Bing, yahoo)

Uber suggest is one of the best tools to get lots of long tails keywords. You just have to enter a short keyword in the box and that’s all. You will get long tail keywords as given below. In this case, I’ve entered “Long tail keywords” as a main keyword.

These suggestions are based on keyword + a and similarly, It will be for A to Z and 1-10 also if possible for the keyword you entered.

2. Google Related search

Do you know that google shows related searches whenever you search anything at the bottom of the page? If not then try now. In this case, I’ve entered “long tail keywords” as search and at the bottom of the page, I got this,

You can see here are some brilliant keywords and some new ideas to write an article as well as lots of long tail keywords. You will get 1-2 words more than what you enter in the search. It means that you can stretch any keyword as long as you want but be sure you are not targeting keyword having 0 search volume.

There are many more techniques and tools to get long tail keywords, but these 2 methods are just best. You can get as many long tail keywords as you want by using this method. It is more important that you write for search engine instead of writing to rank only.

2. Write for visitors too

Visitors are ones for whom you write articles. It means that if the user will like your article, you will get more traffic because those who liked your article are going to share it too! The social share has much importance in getting higher rank in google.

It means that if your articles are getting lots of social shares then you will rank higher in SERPs. Most of my articles get 30-40+ facebook shares and due to that, I get much traffic from facebook. Let us see that really social share affects rankings?

As you can see, Social media shares affect rankings. If you will get More Facebook shares, Facebook likes and Facebook comments, you will rank higher than those who get less. I’ve personally experienced this on Ideasoverdose.com.

It is recommended to have URL length under 100 characters in total. If URL has less then 100 characters and contains keyword in it then there are more chances to get higher ranking in SERPs.

Let me explain you by taking an simple example. For instance, I have article with title “How to get more backlinks for long term blog”. Targeted keyword for this article is “Backlinks for long term blog”. Then, the URL containing only keyword will rank higher then URl containing whole title in URL. For example (I provided some dummy url for explanation)

Higher rankings –> http://www.mergify.in/backlinks-for-long-term-blog/

Lower rankings –> http://www.mergify.in/how-to-get-more-backlinks-for-long-term-blog/

It is because google will ignore ending part of URL which is more then some limit in characters. It is always recommended to keep URL under 100 characters.

So, keep your keywords in URL of your article and also make sure it is under 100 characters. One of the article on this blog is ranking on #1 just because it has Exact keyword in URL. Keyword is just used 1 time in content and it is 1800 words long article.

Conclusion : Yes, We have to write article for our readers but we also need ranking for that article on specific keyword to get constant flow of traffic to that article. So, we need to optimize our article for search engines. The techniques, Tips and advises given in this article works 100%.

Simple but fast methods to improve your search engine presence

Do you optimize your content to get ranked on first page of SERPs? Everyone does, But more than half bloggers fail to get position on first page.

There are many reasons behind it. Might be you are not optimizing article properly or you are not doing keyword research properly.It happens that you don’t get rank on the first page, but you get it on second, third, fourth and fifth page. It means that you can improve your article to get rank on the first page.

In this article, I am gonna tell you what you can do to get rank on the first page if you are ranking on second or more pages. It also depends on the competition of keyword so every time if you are expecting good results, you are going wrong.

In some keywords, It is good to rank on even 2-3 pages because competition is very much higher. By using these techniques, you will see improvement as I saw till now. I used this techniques on my sites as well as on my client’s sites and these techniques really worked for me.

I use and recommend these techniques to everyone. Now, let me tell you what you can do to improve it to get higher rankings than what you currently have.

1. Keep updating articles

For example, you want to rank on first page for the keyword “visualize behavior of visitor”. You wrote an article but got rank on the 3rd page of the google for this keyword.

Now, It’s time to get started. Add more and more content in that article and be sure it is relevant to your article. Increasing content in a manner to add more information on that topic. It might be some more techniques to visualize behavior of visitor in this case.

This will help you to improve your rankings. Whenever I’ve updated an article till now to improve rankings, I did it every time. Every time I got improvement in rankings. Why?

It is because, by updating your article, you are improving quality as well as the quantity of content in your article. Google loves content. You can rank without backlinks but you can’t rank without content.

On an average, you will get ranked on #1 with content more than 2416 words in an article. It is not necessary in every case. From below-given image, you can see that how much content you need to to secure position on #1 page.

Optimal content length for search engine.

These stats are for long term keywords and blogs. It is applicable for long term and niche blogs but not applicable for event blogs.

Finally, you need lots of content in article to get higher rankings or rankings on the first page. By increasing content in an article, you will see quick boost in ranking of your blog overnight. Yes, This technique is verified and every time I saw improvement whenever I did.

So, If you are ranking back on second, third or more pages, just add more and more content to that article and you might get rank on the first page. If not, It will improve your rankings a lot at least.

2. Internal linking

What do you get in mind when I say internal linking? Might be making backlinks or exchanging backlinks with other bloggers. If you are thinking same then you are absolutely WRONG!

Do you know the major reason behind ranking of wikipedia? Yes, Wikipedia ranks on almost all keywords that exist. It has 7,900,000,000 Monthly page views without any advertisements. do you know why? Wikipedia gets most traffic from search engine. Wikipedia is using one of the best Organic SEO strategies which is internal linking.

Like I did this for 2 articles in the beginning of this article just after the Stock photo. But there are some limitations with this Technique. One of the biggest Limitations is You can give a link to old articles, but you can’t give links to new articles.

Our second technique is result of smart work and It will help you to interlink your articles very easily. Let us see that.

2. Use Feedburner to interlink articles

Any idea about this? I’ve shared this before now and I am going to share it one more time. First of all, make Feedburner feed for your blog.

Make new feed and then check whether it is showing every article with whole content or not. If it is not showing then Just check Settings–>Reading of your WordPress. From WordPress, you can do settings to show full articles on your feed.

After getting all articles with full content on Feedburner feed, Technical work is Over. I use a Big image at the starting of the article. So, the structure will be same in Feedburner too! You will have same structure in your Feedburner as you have in your blog.

Be sure you can see all the articles with full content on Feedburner. Now, The real game starts. Now, Press CTRL+F in your browser and in search, Enter the keyword you targeted for any article.

For instance, Keyword is Keyword research and there is one Keyword research guide on my blog. Now, Whenever I will get the word keyword research in Feedburner feed, I will link to my keyword research guide from the article in which I got that keyword.

Similarly, I will give a link to the keyword research guide from every article in which I will find the word keyword research.

By this method, I can give the links to old articles as well as new articles. There are no limitations for this technique except your theme doesn’t allow Feedburner to show you full articles.

3. Increase Social media shares and comments

You might think that nothing is going to happen in SERPs by increasing social media shares of any articles. If you are thinking same then you are wrong. Social media shares can improve your rankings a lot.

Just keep sharing your articles through social media and by this way you will get some more traffic as well as some extra shares which will be done by users.

You will surely get improvement in rankings after increasing social media shares.

When I was a newbie, I used to enter the keyword at every possible place and every time I used to fail to rank. Keyword stuffing is the great problem nowadays. Let me tell you that Keyword stuffing will never help you to rank unless you are doing event blogging.

Keyword stuffed article will be marked as Poorly written article by the search engines and also SEO. So, you need to make content for your readers. Never keyword stuff your article because I did this mistake and I don’t want you to repeat this mistake.

By Using heatmap, you can know that which part of your site gets most engagement or most clicks. Heatmaps are generated by recording clicks on any page of site for some time. It is somewhat hard to understand with text, So here is Heatmap example,So, this is the heatmap of one site and you can see that the links in right sidebar has maximum clicks. There are also 2-3 other parts in site which as many clicks like 4 links beside site name.In heatmaps, red color indicates very high number of clicks while blue color or no colour indicates very less number of clicks or no clicks.

Heatmap can be generated for any website or blog but main drawback is heatmap generators are paid like Crazy Egg. There is one Heatmap generation tool which is free but it is in beta version. I am going to share its link to get registered on it. Let us take one more heat map example of first page of google search.

You can see that there are maximum clicks on first two results of google search page. You can see that triangle which has maximum clicks and that triangle is also known as The golden triangle. It means that if your site is ranking on 1st position or 2nd position on any keyword then you will get maximum visitors who are searching for that.

Heatmaps will also tell you about bad permorming aresa of your site. For example, if you have image which is not linked anywhere and your visitors are clicking on that means that they need some action when they click on that image. By this way, you can enhance your users experience by improving this type of areas.

There are many benefits of tracking your user’s behaviour on your site. Like I said just above this that if anyone is clicking on image which is not hyperlinked then your visitors wants some action. One more thing that can be done by using heatmap is it can increase your revenue also.

For example, if some part of your site is getting clicks but there is nothing special in that part then you can place advertisement code which maybe a adsense ad code. After placing code, your clicks will be converted into Dollars.
If you want to place subscription form on your site then after getting information from your website heatmap, you can know that which part is best to place sign up form to get more subscribers.

After studying your heatmap, you can remove content or you can make your site’s paart clean which is not getting good attention even after placing good stuff there.

CrazyEgg (Paid) – CrazyEgg is more more expensive nor free. Its basic plan starts at 9$ per month and will give you heatmaps daily of 10 active pages on your site. I havn’t tried it but its good.

Mouseflow – (Paid) – Mouseflow is also paid heatmap generator and they give 30 days money back gurantee and has basic plan of 19$ a month.

Conclusion – It is very good for your site to use heatmap because you can get very much good information about your site’s performance.
